Visual images saturate our daily lives but what is it that makes a photograph really catch our attention, that conveys an atmosphere, captures a detail, that really stops us in our tracks?

In this workshop Eva Nemeth will explore the art of visual story telling.   She describes her approach as ‘quiet observation’ and says that it’s not so much about the equipment you use but developing a personal way of looking.  The aim of the day will be to help you find your own focus to set you on the path to capture your own stories.

This is an advanced photography workshop for those who are already familiar with the settings on their DSLR or mirrorless cameras.   We will spend some time in the afternoon editing in Lightroom and will look at a selection of each other’s photographs for constructive, individual feedback.

Eva Nemeth is a professional photographer based in Oxfordshire with a passion for gardens, flowers and the countryside. She works with some of the UK’s leading garden designers, florists, publishers and magazines. Her teaching style is gentle, encouraging and generous.

Refreshments

Alison will prepare a delicous vegetarian lunch featuring produce from the garden and scrumptious savoury tarts made for us by Beth, the Freerange Chef. There will be home made biscuits on arrival and we will round up the day with tea and home made cake to ensure that your day will be as nourishing as it is informative. If you have any specific dietary requests do let us know on the booking form.

What to Bring

DSLR or mirrorless camera, spare memory card and batteries as well as a tripod if you use one.   If you already use Lightroom do bring along a laptop but this isn’t essential. We will be spending part of the day outdoors in the garden so you might want to wear sturdy shoes or boots and bring waterproofs.  You may wish to bring a notebook and your own water bottle.
